Programmes - The Siyakhula Substance Abuse Centre

This 12-week voluntary residential programme, is offered to young people who are addicted to substances. The programme accommodates 8 young people, from 11 to 17 years, per intake and 3 intakes are run each year.

The programme is strengths based, focusing on innate strengths and assisting young person in developing new life skills, in order to make positive life changing decisions and thus escape from the web of substance abuse.

Participation by family is encouraged, as their support and encouragement, is vital to the young person’s successful recovery from substance abuse.

Durban Children’s Homes is the first children’s home in South Africa to offer a registered residential treatment programme to young people, who are dependent on substances.
